I joined the Motion room in May 2013.  I was looking for a program that would help me build muscle.  I remember my first 4 Series Classic class with Emanuele.  I kept forgetting what exercise to do at each station and which station to go to next.  However, Emanuele was kind and patient by the end of the class I was hooked.

Over the years I have enjoyed both the physical aspect of the classes as well as the comradeship with other members.  I have recently been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) a form of chronic inflammation of the spine and sacroiliac joints.  When I have flare ups I can barely walk and my husband thought I was crazy to still be going to classes.  However, I always maintained that I would feel less stiff and more mobile after a class.  As it turns out I was right to listen to my body as exercise is one of the suggested treatments for AS, studies have shown that it helps improve posture, spine mobility and lung capacity.  Emanuele and the other trainers have helped me improve my posture, they are always watching my back, pun intended, and my alignment.  Throughout the day I hear their voices reminding me to stand straight, pull my shoulders down and back and keep my knees over my ankles.

I also appreciate the check-in sessions and I love reading the printout that says my metabolic age is 10 years less than my actual age which leads me to my last point.  I am turning 50 this year, crap it feels weird to say that out loud let alone write it.  However, my goal is to get into the best shape of my life.  I plan to achieve this goal through exercise and heathy eating.  Currently, I take two Personal Co-training classes a week and either, run, walk or ride my exercise bike for the other five but if I won the Spotlight challenge I would change my membership to unlimited and then take three co-training classes along with the rejuvenation class on Saturday to help decrease the stiffness in my joints.

In conclusion, I appreciate what the Motion Room and their wonderful trainers have done to help me increase my muscle mass, improve my posture reduce the stiffness in my spine and I hope to continue to attend classes for many years to come.
