This week I was at the Ambassador Training, and part of the training involved the trigger point foam point rollers.

My muscles have been feeling quite tight the last few weeks. Some of the exercises I have been doing have been hard on my hips, knees, ankles and feet. Even the agility ladder has been tough lately. I have really been feeling all the jumping up and down.

The foam rollers really found all the tender spots. The training was hard, and I felt it right after as well as the next day. I decided to make an appointment for a trigger point session at The Motion Room. I was half looking forward to the appointment and the other half of me was dreading it. All I could think about was the tender spots she would press and how much it would be uncomfortable.

TPT LogoThe appointment was an hour, and it felt like longer. Now you are probably thinking that’s because it was so painful. Well, I’m happy to tell you that it wasn’t that painful. The treatment started with Bee putting this nice warm heating pad on me. It was probably used to warm up the muscles for some part of the treatment, but it still felt nice to be covered in the warmth. It didn’t take long for the treatment to begin. I was instructed to breathe in through my nose, and breathe out through my mouth. I don’t know why I was instructed to breathe like this. Who knows, maybe it was just meant to distract me. In any case, it seemed to help.

There were some tender and uncomfortable moments during the session, but I know it’s because I really need the work in these areas. The last 15 or 20 minutes were devoted to a massage, which felt really good. It was a nice way to complete the treatment. Actually, the final step was a nice cup of tea afterward.

Even though there were some uncomfortable moments, I think it was a great session. In fact, I’m going back next week. If you are curious about Trigger Point, give it a try. I think you’ll find it’s a good use of your time.
